QCPD says BSKE 2023 'generally peaceful'

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said on Tuesday, Oct. 31, that the conduct of the Baranggay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2023 in the city on Monday, Oct. 30, was “generally peaceful.”

This after the local police force recorded zero violent incidents related to the elections on Monday.

QCPD said that 4,204 combined personnel from the city police force and other augmentation forces from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and those undergoing mandatory training courses from the NCR Training Service were deployed during BSKE.

The QCPD earlier said that it deployed around 3,900 of its personnel in different parts of the city to ensure peace and order in 169 voting centers in the city.

It also announced the arrest of six individuals who violated the liquor ban on Oct. 29, as well a as 54 suspects for election gun ban violation.

A total of 93 firearms were confiscated and surrended to the police during the election campaign period

“I am thankful that no untoward incident has transpired except for violations of liquor ban. I am proud with the performance of our personnel and their sacrifices for the election period led to the success of this event,” QCPD director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said.

He also commended his men and thanked the QCitizens who played a big part in the peaceful conduct of the BSKE 2023.
