Vice President Jejomar Binay has vowed to prioritize, among others, the social services started by his predecessor, former Vice President Noli de Castro.

Social services include burial assistance, medical assistance, and legal assistance, among others.

“Definitely, we will continue with the social services programs [of former Vice President De Castro],” Vice Presidential chief of staff Benjamin Martinez Jr. said.

Binay said social services as well as scholarships and gender and development programs are among the areas that then Vice President De Castro had asked Vice President Binay to carry on.

“I think they have to give credit to Vice President Noli [De Castro] because it was during his term daw na medyo na-popondohan niya yung division na yun that’s why direct yung tulong [it was during his term when that division was given sufficient funds that is why they can provide direct assistance],” he said.

“Of course, you can’t please and give all to the people, kulang at kulang pa rin kasi nga paano nahahati yun [it will still be insufficient because you have to split the funding so that the majority can benefit from it],” he added. (Madel Sabater)
