Former president Fidel V. Ramos Friday said that President Aquino should take a positive approach in his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) by talking about “healing” on Monday, July 26.

During the launching of his book “Another Ending, Another Beginning” at the historic landmark Manila Hotel, Ramos offered this “unsolicited advice” to the new Chief Executive whom he said is now faced with the responsibility of making sure the Philippine ship “doesn’t sink.”

Ramos said it is essential for the Aquino administration to ensure the unity and harmony in the bureaucracy because the recent elections, coupled with the disasters that hit the country, had left the country wounded.

He said Aquino should not focus on the past and should instead look forward to a positive future.
“In the SONA, one message (I would like to hear is about) healing muna (first) because the country is wounded,” Ramos said.

“Second, is inclusion kasi maraming nasaktan dyan, maraming nakalimutan (because many were hurt, many were forgotten.) Nobody should be excluded from the government,” Ramos said.
