The National Liga ng Barangay will hold 3rd national convention will be held next week with President Noynoy Aquino as the guest of honor in Manila.

Caloocan City Councilor and Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas President Ricojudge “RJ” Echiverri said on Saturday the national convention will officially kick off on July 29 with the registration of participants at the Manila Pavilion but the main part will take place on July 30, at the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.

During the convention, officials of the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas will personally hand over to President Aquino during the event a resolution requesting the postponement of the barangay elections slated on October, 2010.

Aside from President Aquino, senators and congressmen who may be able to help the Liga ng mga Barangay in deferring the barangay elections are also expected to attend.

Echiverri, for his part, expects a huge turnout of barangay officials from all over the country during the 3rd national convention since they would also be tackling section 393 of the local government code apart from the request for election postponement. (Willie Catapat)
