Three policemen in Taguig City were feted Monday morning for catching a fugitive from Samar that also turned out to be the province’s fifth most wanted person.

Given Certificates of Commendation during the Monday’s flag ceremony were Chief Inspector Celso Rodriguez, PO1Ruben Umbrero and PO1 Edwin Duka, all members of the Taguig Police Community Precinct (PCP)-6.

“This certificate is awarded not only to commend, but also serve as an inspiration and encouragement to police officers that under this administration, good deeds will be rewarded and recognized,” the certificates read.

Senior Supt. Camilo Cascolan, city police chief, said the trio was honored for their quick capture of Domingo Japzon Manaog, of Catbalogan City, Samar.

Reports gathered from the Taguig police Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) showed that Manaog was nabbed in the afternoon of July 18, 2010 in BCDA Complex, Ususan.

Duka said Manaog had been jailed in his native Samar for charges of drug peddling but managed to escape. “He (Manaog) had been on the run for over a year when we caught him here in Taguig,” he said in an interview.
