The Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden of Manila Zoo celebrated its 51st anniversary by opening a new aviary for flightless birds and two additional restrooms for visitors.
The event was attended by Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim, City Councilor Josie Siscar, and parks and recreations bureau chief Engr. Deng Manimbo.
Coinciding with the anniversary was SM Hypermart Adriatico's launch of the "Baryanihan," a program to help rehabilitate the Manila Zoo.
The "Baryanihan" encourages shoppers to donate their coins or spare change. This would, in turn, be used to purchase cleaning materials and fund feeding programs of Manila Zoo.
The project would run for three months.
