Sharon dotes on Miguel, excited over ‘Megadrama’

Megastar Sharon Cuneta’s eyes light up whenever talk gravitates toward her eight month-old son, Miguel Samuel Mateo.
“He’s started calling me mama! And he knows how to do the flying kiss, to say bye-bye, and how to make beautiful eyes,” she said proudly during the press conference for her forthcoming concert “Megadrama.”
Sharon said Miguel has her chin, her daughter Miel’s dimples and her clan’s long, thick eyelashes.
“He has a funny face. Miguel is a very happy baby.”
The megastar announced her plan to adopt Miguel at the 35th Metro Manila Film Festival awards rites last year. Her announcement came after her reported visit to Hospicio de San Jose, a Catholic Welfare institution and a home of orphans, abandoned and special children and elderly people. She said Miguel was named in honor of St. Michael, the Archangel.
“Sila ni Kiko ang pinaka-close now. All of my daughters [including young actress KC Concepcion and Frankie] love her. We always say, ‘Who’s the baby that Papa Jesus gave us?’” Sharon said.
The only reason Sharon has not shown Miguel to media is that his adoption has not yet been finalized. Once it becomes official, the megastar promised to publicize some of his pictures and talk about him in her magazine.
Sharon said she had been offered many times to adopt a baby but she balked at taking the plunge because “it’s such a big responsibility.”
Miguel, however, had the megastar at hello.
“Hiniram ko lang—tapos ‘di ko na binalik!” quipped she, who plans to take Miguel on trips once his passport materializes.
Apart from Miguel, Sharon is all into “Megadrama” which is set for Aug. 7 at the Araneta Coliseum. The show will have Zsa Zsa Padilla, Aiai delas Alas, Pokwang, and Ogie Alcasid as guest performers.
“Maiba naman ba na merong seryosong pagkanta, merong parang jamming, at merong nakakatuwa," she said.
Sharon said the repertoire of “Megadrama” consists of well-loved OPM songs including the hits of Ryan Cayabyab, George Canseco and Willy Cruz, all of whom, she said, gave her “the best songs” of her career.
The concert is produced by Artist House, directed by Rowell Santiago, and supported by Sony Music Entertainment which recently released Sharon’s album “Musika at Pag-ibig.”
