Bulacan halts all mining, quarrying operations

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan – Aiming to have a clean and green province, Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said Thursday he has issued two executive orders in connection with quarrying and sanitation of establishments in the province.

The Bulacan governor issued Executive Order 01-2010 suspending all permits for quarrying and other mining operations which were previously released by the Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office and Governor’s Office.

He said, by doing so, he will be able to conserve and protect the flora and fauna of the province from total devastation.

The governor also issued Executive Order 02-2010 instructing all the offices and establishments in the province to maintain a clean and orderly surroundings at all times.

In his speech recently during the inaugural session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan held at the Benigno Aquino Session Hall, Alvarado encouraged allboard members to work with him and Vice  Governor Daniel Fernando in creating programs and ordinances that will benefit the Bulakenyos.

Alvarado said he issued the two executive orders as part of his program to conserve and protect the mountains, forest and coastal areas in the province while the Sangguniang Panlalawigan is yet to draft an environmental code.
