Valerie Concepcion and Mariel Rodriguez, co-hosts of the soon-to-be defunct noontime show, “Wowowee,” expressed sadness over having to let go of the show that they said they’d “grown to love.”

“Hindi biro ang years na ini-spend namin dun,” Rodriguez said in a recent TV interview. “Nakakalungkot isipin.”

Concepcion concurs, adding that more than the show itself, she felt sad for their colleagues who are bound to get the axe.

“Like si RR [Herrera], three years din kami nagkasama, everyday kami nagkikita, nagbo-bond; si Kelly [Misa] kahit three months lang ‘yun, naging close kami,” she related.

Nonetheless, both welcome the replacement show, “Pilipinas Win na Win,” which will make its debut on July 31.

The rating of “Wowowee” had slipped since main host Willie Revillame was suspended by show producer ABS-CBN. This happened after he demanded on air the sacking of colleague Jobert Sucaldito whom he accused of berating their program over dzMM, sister company of ABS-CBN.

The network announced that the new show will be hosted by Robin Padilla, Mariel Rodriguez, Valerie Concepcion, Pokwang and Kris Aquino.

A new show tailored specifically for Willie is said to be underway, the airing of which will be announced in due time, according to Bong Osorio, head of ABS CBN’s corporate communication department.

“I’m very happy for kuya [Revillame]. Dapat naman [that he is given a new show],” enthused Rodriguez.
