After the initial success of the song, “Pyramid,” fans of international singing sensation Charice are now eagerly anticipating her follow-up single.

During her press conference in Thailand last July 23, the 18-year old “Glee” Season 2 star revealed that her second single would most likely be a new song that is not part of her top eight billboard-charting album, “Charice.”

“We’re looking for a dance song faster than ‘Pyramid’ because dance is actually ‘in’ in the US right now. Something like Lady Gaga,” said Charice in an article written by blogger Carlo dela Rosa, who was also present in the presscon along with other Filipino reporters.

Dela Rosa then threw in some song suggestions for Charice lifted from her US album, such as “Nothing” and “Reset,” which are both “dancey,” he said.

While Charice said she loves those songs, she insisted, “We are really looking for a new song that is not part of the album…”

Dela Rosa related in his entry that the petite singer has also earned a new title apart from being called “pop princess” in the US, thanks to the Thai media, which dubbed her as the “New Voice.”

The blogger noted that they were not allowed to ask questions related to the controversial “corrective” procedures that Charice underwent recently, as well as her stint on “Glee.”

But if there’s any indication as to how Charice has been handling the issues, the response she gave when queried about her relationship with her mother Raquel seemed to have touched on it:

“I just wanna thank her for everything that she did. I feel like no one would dare and try to bring me down if I’m with her. I felt so secured. A lot of people are asking me if I could compare her to a superhero, I’d say she’d be Wonder Woman…”

It can be recalled that it was also Mommy Raquel who pitched the idea to Charice’s US manager Marc Johnston of having her daughter audition for “Glee” after the rumor of her being cast on the show broke out and hogged headlines worldwide.

“Nung nalaman kong nag-audition si Sam Milby at si Nikki Gil, naisip ko bakit hindi natin i-audition si Charice? Binanggit ko kay Marc i-audition nga natin Marc si Charice. Sabi ni Marc why not nga raw. Nung kumalat ‘yung news sabi ko ‘wag muna, baka ma-postpone ‘yung pago-audition.

“Siyempre happy naman din kasi nag-respond naman ‘yung mga taga-‘Glee,’ na kahit na kumalat na, puwede pa ring mag-audition si Charice. Hinintay pa rin nila,” she told some members of the press after Charice’s album tour press conference in Manila last July 15.

The man behind the massive success of “Glee,” Ryan Murphy, related in a separate interview with a local daily on how the Pinay singer got cast on the award-winning show.

Ryan said he had heard of Charice long before the “Glee” hubbub because “she was on ‘Oprah’.” One of the producers of “Glee” had already met Charice, [and] “I had to meet her myself,” he said firmly. “It went from just being a meeting to, ‘Oh, I have to put that girl in that show somehow.”

“She said, ‘Do you want me to sing for you?’ I said, ‘Okay.’ She opened her laptop... she had a demo—she hit play and she sang. She was in my office for half an hour,” he recalled.

He also admitted to feeling “taken” by the young singing sensation he described as “tiny and cute.”

“I loved her spirit. I loved the story of her and her mother. She was just so proud telling me that she had bought her mother a house.”

“So we’re writing her a really good role. She’s going to start in the first episode of the new season. I’m really happy. That’s one of those things where somebody walks in and you’re just so touched that you say, ‘I have to write something for you.’ So that’s how it happened,” Ryan related.

The interview is said to have been conducted prior to the “Botox” hullabaloo, and last thing we heard from a New York Magazine article, Ryan reportedly had to re-write Charice’s episodes to something that would send the message of learning to appreciate one’s looks as it is. Whether that’s true or not, the fans will still surely be waiting.
