'Stairway' star fined $6,000 for hit-and-run incident

Hallyu actor Kwon Sang Woo, who starred in the hit drama series “Stairway to Heaven,” has been ordered by a Korean court to pay 7 million won ($6,000) for his involvement in a hit-and-run incident in June.
Kwon was originally ordered to pay 5 million won, but the Seoul Central District Court increased the fine considering that he fled the scene.
On June 12, Kwon crashed his car into vehicles including a police car in Cheondam district in Seoul. He fled the scene and showed up at the police station two days after.
His talent agency claimed that Kwon’s car slipped due to slippery road, which caused it to crash into another car.
In an apology to his fans, Kwon said he felt sorry for fleeing the scene and that he should have come forward immediately.
It wasn’t known if Kwon was drunk at the time of the accident.
