Heavy rains for the past three days triggered flooding in at least six towns in Maguindanao and several areas in the nearby provinces but police officials said there are no evacuations being done so far since the affected residents are already used to that kind of calamity.

Senior Supt. Marcelo Pintac, director of the Maguindanao Police, said the most affected areas are the villages of Salimbao, Limbo, Bulalo, Catuli, and Banubo in Sultan Kudarat town where the floodwater have become chest-deep on Friday.

Pintac said other areas where flooding was monitored where some villages in Mamasapano, Sultan sa Barongis, Datu Piang, and Datu Saudi Ampatuan towns.

Amid the incidents that affected hundreds of residents, Pintac said they have not received neither evacuation plans nor distribution of relief goods notice from the local authorities, saying the affected residents are taking the flooding lightly.

Heavy rains started to batter the Maguindanao province and nearby areas since Thursday, triggering massive flooding that left several roads impassable for light vehicles such as the Quirino Bridge that connects Cotabato City and Sultan Kudarat town.
