World Friendship Day
World Friendship Day celebrated on August 1 each year is a good time to recognize our friends and their contributions to our lives. The event highlights why friendships are important, and why establishing and maintaining friendships all throughout our lives will make life happier, a little less serious and complicated.
Friendship is a beautiful bond between two or more people who adjust to each other’s needs and fill in whatever voids may have created by time, fate, and circumstance, with love, trust, and compassion. The importance of having a friend or someone to listen to you has been recognized since the creation of man.
Friendship is a unique, precious, wonderful, and unique bond of togetherness. When one is feeling down, friends can make all the difference in the world. Friends are there for us whenever we need them. They share things with us and let them share our lives with them.
Perhaps the biggest threat to friendship is change, even gradual change like – change of residence, personality, or lifestyle when friends just drift apart. Sometimes, friends are hard to deal with and friendships break up suddenly. Regardless of why, when, or how friendships end, there is always some pain of loss that comes with it.
Let this day be a reason for us to remember or be with people who have inspired and encouraged us and stood by us when the rest of the world seemed to turn their back on us. Let this day be one of appreciation for those who made some contributions to our lives in spite of whatever they themselves were going through. Having a true and devoted friend helps bring positivity and peace to this world, a great reason to celebrate.
