Leader of carnapping group falls
The supposed leader of a carnapping group which victimized an ambassador and the father of an actor, was arrested by operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office early morning, August 2, 2010.
Initial investigation showed that the suspect identified as Ivan Padilla was apprehended by law enforcers along Makati Avenue at around 4:30 am.
The suspect exchanged gunfire with authorities before eventually being subdued.
Padilla was apprehended following the arrest of his alleged cohorts Dale Alimagno and Glen Del Castillo.
The two supposed cohorts of Padilla were driving the Toyota Camry (ZNL-415) owned by Ambassador Roberto Romulo when apprehended by NCRPO operatives along Filinvest II in Batasan Hills, QC.
The group is supposedly responsible for the carnapping of the vehicles of Ambassador Romulo and the father of actor Derek Ramsey.
The arrested suspect will be presented in a press conference at around 9 am, August 3, 2010.
