LAOANG, Northern Samar — Rep. Emil L. Ong (2nd district, Northern Samar) is lauding President Benigno C. Aquino III’s pronouncement during his State-of-the-Nation Address (SoNA) last July 26 that Filipinos “can now dream again,” giving the people a resurgence of hope.

Ong said one of his constituency’s dream and hope for is the completion of the circumferential road network from Palapag to Gamay town, both in Northern Samar, and on to Arteche town in Eastern Samar.

He said the road project was started during his first term and so far, only 55 percent of the road length has been cemented. As such, it still needs funding for its completion.

The Samar solon said that if the road network to these towns are completed, it would be a big help to the people of Northern and Eastern Samar as it will facilitate easy travel while allowing farmers in the locality to bring their farm produce and other products to the nearest market in the shortest time possible.

Ong said travel time to Catarman, Northern Samar’s capital town has been cut short by three hours as the road is now passable although currently, it is just an all-weather road, with only a few portions cemented.

He added that once fully completed, the circumferential road network will pass through the interior towns of Palapag, Mapanas, Gamay, and Lapinig, and then will connect to Arteche in Eastern Samar.
