Primetime actress Marian Rivera surprised a 15 year-old fan diagnosed with leukemia by attending her birthday party.

According to a report on “24 Oras,” the surprise was set-up by telling the fan, Carla Mae Santos, that Marian would not be able to make it to the celebration. Then, just as Carla Mae was slicing her chocolate cake, Marian suddenly entered the room and took over the task.

Marian hugged and greeted Carla Mae, who seemed shocked by the "apparition."

“Ang sinabi na lang hindi ako makakapunta. Tapos ‘pag nandito na kayo lahat, tiyaka na lang ako papasok. So ‘yun, buti naman na-surprise ko siya kahit papano,” the “Endless Love” actress told reporters during a joint interview with Carla Mae.

Marian, an August celebrant herself (her birthday falls on the 12th), enthused that she and Carla share the same zodiac sign, Leo. “And thankful ako dahil ang daming puwedeng hingin, bakit ako, 'di ba?” she added.

The idol and the fan also exchanged their birthday wishes for each other:

“Ang wish ko… ang importante kasi sa tao, ‘yung palaging masaya. Kahit anong mangyari sa’yo, basta may happiness ka sa puso mo, ‘yun na ‘yun eh. Para sa’kin walang katumbas ‘pag masaya ka,” said Marian.

Carla Mae, meanwhile, wishes: “Sana po dumami pa ang [mga projects niya].”

Before leaving, Marian gave Carla Mae some of her personal items such as a T-shirt and a pair of shoes as gifts.
