Six previously reported missing fishermen were rescued by elements of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Friday along the waters of Bantag Island in Coron, Palawan.

According to the report released by the Coast Guard Action Center (CGAC) in Manila, Elmarie Razole of Barangay Tanod in Coron appeared at the Coast Guard Detachment-Turda office to report that fishing boat FB Kevin suffered from engine troubles and drifted towards somewhere along the vicinity of Bantag Island around 8 a.m.

Personnel from that said Coast Guard Station immediately conducted search and rescue (SAR) operations of the said missing vessel. The SAR team arrived in the area and found the distressed fishing boat with the reported six fishermen later identified as Rone Boy Godines, Kimuel Gonines, Angelo Cadasule, Richard Cañete, and Lorenz Valiente.
