Siemens launches Green Tech Journalism Award
Siemens, the world’s leading green infrastructure company, launches its Siemens Green Technology Journalism Award 2010 to acknowledge and reward journalists and young reporters for excellent reporting on energy efficiency, industrial productivity and sustainability issues.
This contest is open to print and online media platforms Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
“Concerns such as climate change, sustainable living and conservation are at the forefront of our modern society. There is a vital need to create sustainable economies which engender prosperity and protect resources with leading-edge and environmentally viable technologies. And an important part of this effort is the support and advancement of quality journalism in this field, because building an awareness of green issues is the first step towards ‘walking the talk’, as we do at Siemens,” said Mr. Jacky Chan, CEO of Siemens, Inc., Philippines.
All submissions for the Siemens Green Technology Journalism Award 2010 must be published from January 1 to December 31, 2010, in mainstream media such as newspapers, magazines or websites for the Professional Journalist Group, and in university publications for the Young Journalist Group. Articles will be judged in English, so journalists are encouraged to include their own translations for Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese reports.
Entries will be evaluated according to their news value, relevance to the three award categories – Energy Efficiency, Industrial Productivity and Sustainability – as well as the journalist’s writing and language technique.
A local panel of judges will submit the best articles from each country to a regional jury, who will select the final winners. This panel will consist of academics and opinion leaders, media and business professionals, as well as public officials from the participating countries.
