The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Sunday asked the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP) to strictly implement the order which requires radio stations to play four Original Pilipino Music (OPM) compositions every clock hour.

Paolo S. Arceo, Public Relations Officer, NTC PRO, said in a statement that the order was done pursuant to President Aquino’s recent directive to strictly implement Executive Order No. 255.

It would be recalled that E.O. No. 255 (Series of 1987), issued by former President Corazon C. Aquino, requires that all radio stations with musical format programs to broadcast a minimum of four OPM compositions every clock hour.

Arceo also said that it has also sent a letter to the KBP reiterating the need to adhere to the contents of the said order and furnished the KBP copies of E.O. 255 (Series of 1987), its Implementing Guidelines as provided for under NTC Memorandum Circular No. 4-07-88 dated March 1988 and MC 08-11-2005 (Reiterating Compliance by All Radio Broadcasting Stations with Executive Order 255, Series of 1987).
