Frances Haw-Ang, who blogs at http://www.frannywanny.com is one of the most avid food bloggers around. It is for a good reason, she breathes and lives FOOD. Add to that her job as Associate Publisher for Yummy magazine, a publication of Summit Media. Fran actually started blogging as early as 2001 when she kept a journal to chronicle her experiences as a college student. Nine years later and she's still at it, loving her exciting life as a blogger every step of the way.

Q. If your blog were food, what would it be and why?
A. Definitely colorful platter of sushi! It always has serving of fresh stories, a colorful array of experiences and it is something people will keep craving for :)

Q. If u were to invite famous people to your dream dinner, who would they be and why?
A. Oh wow! I guess it would be probably be with my favorite TV chefs like Giada de Laurentiis, Mario Batali, Ming Tsai and Rachael Ray. It would be an evening filled with overflowing good food, some bubbly wine and mouth-watering dessert. I've been following their shows for years. While most people would get star-strucked, I frequently would get chef-strucked whenever I chance upon a local renowned chef here in Manila. Just imagine, what more having 4 of my favorite TV chefs for dinner!

Q. What was the best experience you've had as a blogger?
A. Definitely getting to know my readers -- I started blogging thinking I am just writing for myself. It sounds pretty self-serving really but after seeing comments from people I do not know personally brings a different warmth to my heart knowing that my writing has successfully went beyond the four corners of my home and into the lives of others as well. I enjoy meeting them, having readers coming up to me to say hello. It's amazing that they also know Paul (my husband) as I regularly mention him in my entries. I would tease him that I've made him an online celebrity! haha.

Q. Considering some issues confronting bloggers today, are you in favor of having a bloggers' Code of Ethics?
A. Sure! Since bloggers are quickly being recognized as part of media, I think it is just right for us to have our own code of ethics. While I know that most bloggers are vigilant in abiding by the general rule of public communication and we are always on guard against libel and giving out false information, I think it would be nice to a set of rules in black and white as a guide to all bloggers.

Q. What are the blogging rules and principles you live by?
A. For one I make sure that I keep my blog in a very positive tone. I want to put a smile on the faces of my readers as they read about my latest food and travel adventure. However this does not mean that I would only say good things about a particular restaurant. Should there be occasions where I tried a food that I didn't like, I would still say it but I would make it a point to make the criticism constructive so as not to offend anyone.

Q. Can you share some tips on time management, especially bloggers like you who also have full-time work?
A. I have my own rule that I only blog during my free time. I am focused with my work for as long as I am at the office and I attend to my blog at home. My weekends are also fully dedicated to my blog. You see, my blog is my ultimate stress reliever, and I would frequently joke that the more entries you see , the more stressed I am. Blogging is something I look forward to after a crazy day at work.
