“Nobody is perfect.”

President Aquino issued this defense following a deluge of criticism against his legal team for having four cases before the Supreme Court in just less than two months in office.

The President explained that his administration merely wants to effect changes in governance “in less possible time,” especially on removing the “midnight appointments” issued by the past government.

Several groups have asked the Supreme Court to nullify the first three executive orders issued by the President and his plan to impose a tax on toll.

Sen. Joker Arroyo has also criticized the alleged “rush jobs” by the President’s legal team, advising it to go slow and study moves before taking any action.

But the President said he expected the criticism from some groups, especially “those who want to benefit from the crooked road.”

“The fundamental principle in this is we are trying to correct our society. We’re trying to correct errors, mistakes, and deliberate actions that injure the public good, and possibly there were people who benefited from that status, to try and preserve that status quo, so the challenges are expected,” he said.

Aquino said he is ready to confront problems on how to govern people “who do not follow agenda, who would try to stop you each and every step of the way.”

“We believe we are trying to further the common good by effecting changes in governance, that we believe, are for the advancement of the agenda the less time possible,” he said.

Aquino declined to further comment on the pending cases in court because he could be criticized for interfering with the affairs of the judiciary.

Executive Order No. 1 created the Truth Commission to investigate the alleged irregularities in the Arroyo administration, while EO 2 revoked the midnight appointments approved by former President  Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

EO 3 revoked a previous directive that granted automatic career service rank to government lawyers.
