ILOILO CITY (PNA) – The Police Center for Aviation Security (PCAS) will be deploying K-9 dogs at the Iloilo International Airport and the Kalibo International Airport in Aklan before the end of the year.

PCAS 6 officer-in-charge, C/Inspt Ramil Rebollos said the procurement of K-9 dogs to enhance airport security measures has been approved and the PCAS were just waiting for the initiative to be implemented.

At present, he disclosed that six of their personnel at the PCAS are undergoing training in an Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD) course as part of deployment preparation.

Meantime, he said that they would be relying on the support of the Tactical Operations Group 6 (TOG 6) of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) should they need the help of K-9 dogs.

He disclosed that the PAF has already approved their request on the deployment of K-9 dogs at the airport.

Also Rebollos said the Aviation Security Group (AVSEGroup) at the Iloilo Airport is now coordinating with the Civil Aviations Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) for the billeting of TOG 6 staff and the preparation of  a staging area for the K-9 dogs.

He said they will be stationed temporarily at the airport until such time that the PCAS K-9 dogs will arrive.

The TOG 6 is now based in Dingle, Iloilo.
