Microsoft Word calculates page numbers based on the physical page.

So what if you want to print two page numbers in one physical page?

Here’s how:

1. Put your page numbers in the page headers and footers
2. Make sure the Page Layout tab of the ribbon is displayed
3. Click the small icon in the lower-right corner of the Page Setup group
4. Make sure the Margins tab is displayed
5. Choose the Landscape button
6. Using the Multiple Pages drop-down list, choose 2 Pages Per Sheet
7. Click OK.
