Sam Milby was among the torchbearers in the 2010 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Torch Relay, which spanned from Aug. 7 to 13 in Singapore. Along with 2009 CNN Hero of the Year, Efren Peñaflorida, Milby graced the inaugural staging of the YOG with thousands of other torchbearers from other countries. He and Peñaflorida participated in the last day of the relay.

The torch relay started in Greece last July and traveled to five continents before arriving in Singapore. This was followed by opening ceremonies for the inaugural edition of the event held last Saturday, Aug. 14, at The Float@Marina Bay, where a traditional parade of athletes also took center stage. Weightlifter Patricia Llena carried the flag for the RP team.

3,000 young athletes from around the world reportedly participated in the YOG, including a 9-man Philippine team.

“It was a very big honor. To be part of that experience is something that I’ll definitely never forget,” Milby tells “TV Patrol” on Aug. 17.

Meanwhile, the actor/singer is back taping for ABS-CBN’s musical dramedy, “Idol,” where he stars with Box-Office Queen, Sarah Geronimo, who makes a comeback to television. The musical teleserye is said to be part of celebration of the 60th anniversary of Philippine Soap Opera.
