Cadaver of dolphin recovered in Ilocos Sur
MAGSINGAL, Ilocos Sur – Local fishermen discovered a cadaver of an endangered specie of dolphin along the seashore in Barangay Kaminduruan late afternoon last Monday night here.
Senior Inspector Sosimo Racho, Chief of San Juan town’s police station, told that at about 6:40 p.m. when he received report about the discovered cadaver of dolphin from Barangay Captain Urbano Lagasca of Barangay Kaminduruan in San Juan town.
He described the dead dolphin as black with more than 5 feet length.
“I immediately called the assistance of the Ilocos Sur’ fishery regulation officer for the proper disposition of dolphin’s cadaver,” Racho said.
Ilocos Sur fishery regulation officer Benny Saraos told that the dolphin is subjected for autopsy before it will be buried to further identify the cause of its death.
Meanwhile, local fishermen were wondered about caused of dolphin’s death as it don’t have deep wound but only slight scratches in its body.
