International Motor Show
Recognizing the imperative to encourage the adoption of new technologies to enhance energy efficiency, hasten the use of renewable energy, and protect the environment, the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) is holding an International Motor Show with the theme "Drive the Green Road."
The CAMPI, which groups 19 of the world's top global brands, has made a firm commitment to work for more environmentally responsible practices. In the International Motor Show today, CAMPI will launch the My Ride+Earth, a campaign to complement ongoing advocacies and programs on the issues of environment.
It will feature earth-friendly technological advances that promise fuel efficiency, sustainable fuel hybrids, and cleaner burning diesel vehicles.
With interest in sustainable products and environmental issues fast growing, manufacturers and a broad range of industries are working to find the best practices in green technology. Green technology aims to provide cleaner, more efficient energy sources, cars that do not depend on fossil fuels only, and ways to recycle the growing mountains of e-waste.
Green technology is still in its infancy, but it seems clear that green technology and green business is under way. More and more companies are buying in, realizing why green practices are important, and are working to suit their products or services to both environmental needs and customers' demands.
The timing for the local auto industry to make a green commitment could not have been better with the recent visit of former United States Vice President Al Gore, whose concern for the environment has pushed to the top of the Filipino consciousness a greater awareness of advocacies and programs on the issue of climate change, with the end goal of having a more sustainable planet for future generations.
