MANILA (PNA) — President Benigno S. Aquino III will only have a small delegation in his US trip next month, according to Communications Development and Strategic Planning Secretary Ramon “Ricky” Carandang.

Carandang told a media briefing on Friday that aside from the small presidential entourage in his US trip on Sept. 20, there would be no expensive-fancy dinner.

”Kilala nyo naman si Presidente (You knew the President) he’s not the type to go to fancy restaurants. He only eats normal food, comfort food, nothing fancy,” Carandang told Palace reporters during the media briefing held at the New Executive Building.

”His meals will be consistent with his personality,” Carandang said.

President Aquino is set to go the United States on Sept. 20 and will stay for a week, according to Carandang.

”He wants a leaner delegation, he wants only the people who are necessary for the trip. He’s not going to bring with him large number of people in the contingent,” Carandang said.

”We are looking at investments, we are looking at job generations so we don’t see the need for a large number of people,” he said.

He also said that President Aquino would attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The President will also hold a road show, witness the signing of the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s 4 million grant and he also meet with the Philippine Development Foundation for the information technology projects of the country.

Carandang also said that Malacanang had yet to determine whether the President would meet with US President Barrack Obama. President Obama invited P-Noy to the White House when the US President congratulated Aquino in winning the May 10 presidential elections.

Carandang also said that Malacanang would reveal the travel expenses on the foreign trips of the President to assure the transparency in his trips.

The Palace official claimed that before President Aquino go to US, he will be in Indonesia on September 14-15.

He said that it has been traditional that Philippine presidents go to member-nations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for their first foreign trip.
