Ogie Diaz on LizQuen missing out on 'Hello, Love, Goodbye': 'Kung hindi ukol, hindi bubukol'

Ogie Diaz confirmed that "Hello, Love, Goodbye" was indeed initially offered to his former ward Liza Soberano and the latter's reel and real partner Enrique Gil. He explained that it didn't push through because Liza was busy doing a TV series and movie that time. “Totoo naman ‘yun. Tulad ng sinabi ni Olivia Lamasan na dating managing director ng Star Cinema sa kanyang panayam kay Toni Gonzaga - kung naalala mo pa - na originally, it ('Hello, Love, Goodbye') was for Liza and Enrique Gil,” Ogie started on his recent vlog. “Dahil merong gagawing proyekto si Liza, ito yata ‘yung panahon ng ‘Darna’ na pelikula muna bago naging teleserye. At nakapag-shoot na si Liza ng 'Darna' with Erik Matti noon... Tapos may ‘Bagani’ sila, then tapos na-ano pa yung daliri ni Liza so obviously hindi siya natuloy,” he continued. “Matalas kasi ang memorya ni (Liza) eh. Kung yun ang sinabi sa kanya at um-oo ang Star Cinema sa kanya, e di may utang ang Star Cinema sa kanya. Kaya lang, naniniwala ako na kung hindi ukol, hindi bubukol. Lagi akong naniniwala na merong ibang project na nakalaan para sa’yo,” Ogie reiterated. Recall that in an interview with Bea Alonzo, Liza opened up about how she wanted to do the 2019 Cathy Garcia-Molina movie “so bad.” But management surprised her by offering it to other people. “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” was headlined by Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards. It is now considered the highest-grossing Philippine film of all time. Liza said: “I was like: ‘Why did they do that?’ I asked them to save the project for me and Quen. Parang: ‘Please wait for us.’ Cause they told us din, nu’ng pinitch sa amin na hindi pa pwedeng gawin agad kasi they have to develop it more. And so I was like: ‘We’ll wait for it. Please hold it for us.’ And then nalaman ko na lang bigla na they were offering it to Quen still, but with Kathryn. And I was scared that, like, after ‘Bagani’ and then when I do ‘Darna’ wala na yung LizQuen. For me, I didn’t want to do that to the fans but also Quen was my comfort zone.” She added that it wasn't until later that she realized that she is not helping her career being boxed in a love team. That's why she hasn’t been posting anything about her and Enrique. “It’s hard because everything that I try to do now as solo artist isn’t being taken seriously or like isn’t being respected and it’s seen as something negative. They think I’m, like, some type of wild child now just because I’m not in a love team or I’m not seen around the same man constantly when that isn’t actually normal, to be honest,” she said. “Love team is only a phenomenon created in the Philippines, only existing in the Philippines. He explained: "Mag-kaiba yun. Ito sinabi niya ngayon, yung dati sinabi niya noon, na kumbaga umiinit pa lang ang love team nila or mainit na yung love team nila at gusto lang nila parang strike while the iron is hot. Sasamantalahin nila yung lakas ng kanilang love team." But Ogie has a different interpretation on the issue. "Kasi di ba, yun ang sinasabi ni Liza so ako bilang dating manager kailangan ko siyang unawain, na yun ang pinupunto ng bata e. Kasi di ba, kahit isiksik pa natin sa utak niya na ito naman... 'Dapat maintindihan mo to Liza na ganito sa showbiz, na hindi pwede yung gusto mo ay kailangan laging iiral.' Hindi naman ganun, hindi ko kayang gawin yun kasi siyempre magbabakbakan lang kami ng opinyon," he said. "Siguro parang usapin ito na napaguusapan lang naman - yung sa kanila ni Bea. Pero siguro wala din naman ano si Liza na nanghihinayang siya sobra. Yung hindi lang niya talaga nagawa yung project," he added. Ogie noted: "That time gusto niyang alagaan yung love team, e ngayon na-realize niya na hindi pala dapat nakukulong or nakakahon sa isang love team ang isang artista." "Alam mo ako, since matagal na rin po ako dito sa industriya, e ako masasabi ko lang nakakahiya naman kung may love team tapos hindi naman nag-grow, hindi naman sumikat, hindi naman tinangkilik. So mas maganda ipagpasalamat natin yung love team na nangyari ito. Tsaka pangalawa e kung hindi din naman sa love team, di ba, yung parang plastikan lang sila ni Enrique sa set lagi, di ba, hindi naman aabot na magkasintahan sila for eight years now, or nine."
