70’s Superband does an encore

Original Pilipino Music (OPM) in the 70’s will be brought back again on August 28 at the Belagio Square (formerly Ratsky), Tomas Morato, QC by the 70’s Superband. Aptly titled “Party@Belagio,” the concert is actually a repeat of the show held July 27 at Hard Rock Café.

The repeat performance is in answer to a persistent public demand.

The 70’s Superband members are Nonoy Tan and Rey Magtoto of Wadab, Snafu Rigor of Cinderella, Monet Gaskell of VST & Company, Mon Espia of Labuyo, Jun Malilin and Nonoy Malilin of Abrakadabra.

Nonoy Tan expressed his gratitude for the 70’s Superband encore performance which he initiated. “This repeat performance will benefit the social services of the Apostolate of the Missionary Sisters of Cathechism in Barangay Marauoy, Lipa City; and for the completion of the Tahanan ng Ina ng Guadalupe Homecare.’’

The building will be inaugurated on Dec. 12, 2010, the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Among the songs to be featured in the 70’s Superband encore concert are “Rock, Rock Baby Rock,” “Disco Fever,” “Swing,” “Awitin Mo, Isasayaw Ko,” “Sumayaw Sumunod,” and “Jeepney.”

Backroom artists still on top of their game

Ai Ai delas Alas is the country’s “Comedy Concert Queen.” Right now she is busy with her TV show “M3 (Malay Mo Madevelop)” with Aga Muhlach. She will soon start shooting the movie “Ang Tanging Ina” which is the official entry of Star Cinema for 2010 MMFF.

To celebrate her 20th anniversary in showbiz, Ai Ai will have a concert at the Araneta Coliseum on Nov. 19. The concert will be produced by Ambientmedia and directed by Floy Quintos. Ai Ai is also the special guest in megastar Sharon Cuneta’s European concert series in September.

Prince of Pop Erik Santos is regularly seen on “ASAP.” He is also a regular special guest on “Pilipinas Win na Win’s” “Music and Me” segment. He will soon begin a TV show with megastar Sharon Cuneta and Christian Bautista. Aside from corporate shows, Erik is busy promoting his latest album titled “Erik Santos: The Jim Brickman Song Book.”

Mariel Rodriguez is a regular fixture on TV. She entertains audiences with her lively hosting on “Pilipinas Win na Win “and “Entertainment Live.” Aside from doing corporate shows, Mariel will soon start shooting a movie with Robin Padilla for Star Cinema and another movie with Kris Aquino and Coco Martin.

Bianca Gonzalez hosts ABS-CBN’s “SNN,” Studio 23’s “Y Speak,” The Filipino Channel’s “TFC Connect,” and Cinema One’s “Cinema News.”

Bossa Nova Queen Sitti is busy with corporate shows and “ASAP.” Watch her perform live on these shows: All Wednesdays of September at Martini’s Bar in Mandarin Hotel and all Thursdays of September at Café Lupe in Antipolo.

Funnyman Pooh is regularly seen on “Banana Split” and “Pilipinas Win and Win.” Aside from corporate shows, Pooh has an upcoming concert with Pokwang and Chokoleit on Oct. 16.

K Brosas will have a new TV show titled “Idol” with Sarah Geronimo. She is also part of the cast of an Erich Gonzalez/Enchong Dee movie under Star Cinema. She is now preparing for her solo concert at the Music Museum on Nov. 12.

The husband and wife tandem of Ariel Rivera and Gelli de Belen are busy with various projects. Gelli is part of GMA-7’s “Jejemom” and endorses Alaska, PLDT, Asia Yaw Sho (a Japanese convenient store in Japan), Caltrate, Green Cross Alcohol & Soap and Vaseline.

Aside from hosting corporate shows, Drew Arellano is your reliable companion to different exciting Philippine destinations with his travel show “Balikbayan” on QTV11 and a refreshing wake-upper during weekdays with his early-morning show “Unang Hirit” on GMA-7.

Gretchen Barretto is making waves as Victoria on the top-rating teleserye “Magkaribal” together with Bea Alonzo and Derek Ramsay. Dawn Zulueta is also doing well especially as product endorser.

Aside from corporate shows, Dominic Ochoa is regularly seen on the afternoon series “Rosalka.” Ina Feleo is part of the cast of GMA 7’s primetime teleserye “Pilyang Kerubin.” She is currently shooting a movie under Direk Marilou Diaz-Abaya. Aiko Melendez is back on the small screen with GMA-7’s “Basahang Ginto.”
