The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested a man posing as an intelligence agent recruiting applicants for a fee in an entrapment at a supermarket in Magallanes, Makati City.

Arrested was Joel James Victoria, 32, security guard, single and resident of 151 Fort Santiago St., Bago-Bantay, Quezon City.

The arrest came following the complaint lodged by Richard T. Saure.

In a report to NBI Director Magtanggol B. Gatdula, National Capital Region (NCR) director Medardo G. de Lemos said that the suspect met the complainant and introduced himself as NBI intelligence agent.

He enticed Saure to apply as intelligence agent of the NBI and claimed to have some connections with the bureau.

Victoria collected P10,000 supposedly to be used to facilitate processing.

On July 16, 2010, Saure gave the amount as alleged payment for intelligence agent identification card (ID), badge and appointment papers. The victim received from the Victoria the intelligence agent ID which turned out to be fake.

A week later, Saure followed up the status of his application but Victoria instead demanded an additional P3,000.

Saure then went to the NBI and was told that the suspect is not a member of the bureau.

An entrapment was conducted at the supermarket in Magallanes, Makati City last Thursday at 9 p.m.  that led to the arrest of Victoria.

The suspect had just received P3,000 marked money from Saure when law enforcers arrested him.
