The local government of Caloocan has expanded its tourism promotion for the city's tourist spots, installing tourism officers in every barangay in the city.

Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri said the move will be another way of promoting Caloocan City’s beautiful sceneries and historic places not only to other Filipinos but also to the entire world.

Echiverri said that it is the aim of “barangay tourism” to introduce the city's scenic spots to tourists to encourage them to visit the locality.

Tapping independent tourism officers for each barangay will be the first of its kind adding that it could be emulated by other local government units in Metro Manila and the provinces.

One of the historic places in Caloocan is Andres Bonifacio’s iconic monument located in the middle of the city's business district.

The city also boasts newly opened resorts and other places of leisure and entertainment.

Echiverri said the tourism officers of the city's 188 barangays will hold a meeting on August 30 to plan and coordinate respective cultural presentations.

He also directed the City Hall’s Cultural and Tourism Office (CATO) to come up with effective and meaningful programs that would boost local tourism.
