Losing weight is one of the many problems that some people are facing today. Heavy work load makes it impossible for one to fit exercise in to the schedule, and diet plans could be a little too expensive to follow. Is there any other way we could be slimmer?

There is: healthy eating.

• Less saturated fats. Saturated fat is found in most food items, so check the food labels and look for the fat content and the total calories.

• Cut back on meat and eat more fish. Fish such as tuna is rich in Omega fatty acids that are good for the heart. Poultry meat is also a good source of protein; just don’t eat the skin.

• Two to three servings of vegetables in a day is advisable. Green, leafy, and brightly colored vegetables are rich in vitamins and antioxidants.

• Like vegetables, it is also recommended to have two to three servings of fruits in a day. They are rich in vitamins and fiber.

• Fiber is important to be included in one’s diet. It lowers cholesterol level in the body, hence lower risk for heart diseases and is helpful in irritable bowel syndrome and diabetes.
