Barangay Ginebra San Miguel got back on track after a devastating loss to NLEX over the weekend by venting its ire on Kia, 103-77, Wednesday night in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Scottie Thompson flirted at a triple-double before finishing with 12 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists while Greg Slaughter topscored with 14 points while grabbing eight rebounds as Ginebra gained a share of fifth place with Phoenix, NLEX and TNT KaTropa at 4-4.
The victory also allowed the Kings to erase the bitter memory of Saturday's 81-78 defeat to the Road Warriors where they blew a 14-point third quarter lead.
It also handed Ginebra its fourth loss in five games after a 2-0 start.
Coach Tim Cone hopes the result would be a springboard for Ginebra to regain its winning ways, especially with Joe Devance expected to return this month from foot surgery.
“We played a complete game and we’re able to pull away,” said Cone. “It was really a struggle for us but it might be the game that helps us turn around.”
Rashawn McCarthy finished with 15 points but Kia dropped to a league-worst 1-7 record.
