The Catholic Church has rolled out a fund-raising campaign in an effort to feed the country's malnourished children.

The CBCPNews, the official news service provider of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), said a fund-raising effort by Hapag-Asa, a program of the Pondo ng Pinoy, will a hold a special film showing of the movie entitled “The 13th Day” on September 8.

“The 13th Day” is a movie about three children who witnessed the apparition of Our Lady at Fatima. It is a recreation of a true story of Blessed Virgin who chose three children to bring the message of hope to the world.

Organizers said it only “takes P10 a day or P1,200 for six months to feed a hungry child and help him improve his future.” In counting, there were already half a million beneficiaries of the feeding program in recent years.

It will be shown in various cinemas in Metro Manila and provinces such as Pampanga and Cebu in time for the commemoration of the Birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, they added.

The Pondo ng Pinoy Community Foundation and the Assisi Development Foundation, which co-manage the feeding program, are inviting movie goers to watch the film for a good cause. Also, it is made possible through the Marian Solidarity for Pope Benedict XVI.

Tickets at Ayala cinemas are priced at P75.00 for block screenings and at P100.00 for walk-in patrons.
