Jollibee Foods Corporation has tapped banking giant Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) for an easy fast food remittance delivery service that will allow overseas Filipinos to order meals for family and friends in the Philippines.

Dubbed “BPInoy Jollibee Padala,” the program lets Filipinos working in Spain, US, Italy, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom send Jollibee group meals to family members and beneficiaries back home with the help of BPI’s Overseas Remittance Service Centers.

OFWs can easily “remit” Jollibee meals through the 24 BPI Express Remittance Centers and foreign offices located throughout Europe, North America and Hong Kong From September 1, 2010 to May 31, 2011.

They can just choose the meal they wish to send, fill up the remittance application form, and remit the payment for the meal package.

BPI will then communicate with the Jollibee Customer Service and inform the beneficiary that they have a Jollibee meal waiting for them or Jollibee will deliver the food to the beneficiaries.

According to BPI president Aurelio Montinolla III, BPI handled $4.5 billion in remittances last year. “You can just imagine if even just a fraction of that is converted into Jollibee meals,” he added.

For his part, Jollibee Philippines president Jose Minana said this promotion comes after a previous tie-up between BPI and Jollibee wherein BPI credit card holders get Jollibee products in exchange for using their cards.

He added that if the promo is successful, they can easily extend the promo period. Minana said they are also considering tapping other remittance businesses for similar promotions.

“We want to give our OFWs a more meaningful way to remit their money by giving them a chance to personally choose the meal package they want to send to their loved ones and making available our BERC offices to receive the payment for their chosen Jollibee meals,” said BPI executive vice president and Head of Overseas Banking Teresita B. Tan.
