Korean donates chewable vitamins to children in Valenzuela.

Some 1,000 resident children from R. Delfin neigborhood in Barangay Marulas, Valenzuela City Monday received packs of chewable vitamins from the International Aid Korea (IAK), a non-profit organization through its "Medical Love Gift" program.

Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian said the multivitamins for children ages 3 to 11, arrived earlier this month and was received by the City Health Department (CHD).

The mayor, along with city health officials joined the distribution of the vitamins, Ahna Mejia, chief, public information office (PIO) said.

It is part of the more than $2 million medical endowment of the non-profit Christian organization aimed at building a community-based health care framework that will uplift the health and well being of the world's most vulnerable, the CHD said.

R. Delfin is a neighborhood of about 400 families situated along the easement of the Tullahan River usually visited by the IAK representatives whenever they are in Valenzuela City. They consider it as their "adopted sitio (community)." Residents are always among the beneficiaries of their vitamins and medical endowments.

"In fact, they are always the first stop of the organization and they have already considered the altruistic Koreans part of their families," the city health department said.

Speaking in behalf of the whole neighborhood, Purok Leader Isagani Bechayda. expressed gratitude to the IAK for the help that their organization has been giving them.

"Malaki ang pasasalamat namin sa walang-sawa nilang pagbibigay sa amin ng mga gamot at tulong sa loob ng maraming taon na rin ngayon. (We are very grateful for their untiring help and for their continual provision of medicines for years.)" he said.
