“Siguro kung hindi ako nagpakalalaki, noong oras pa lang na sinabi nung mga pulis na wala akong kasalanan, umalis na sana ako, hindi na sana ako nag-abot ng tulong.”

This is how Enchong Dee addressed the “magpakalalaki ka!” remark of Marlon Boñales—the man who got injured in the vehicular accident involving the young actor a few weeks ago—in an interview on “The Buzz,” Aug. 29.

Boñales alleged in an interview on TV5’s “Paparazzi” on Aug. 22 that Dee has neglected him.

The vehicular accident took place on Aug. 4 along Taft Avenue corner Castro Street in Manila at 11:45 a.m. According to reports, Enchong's vehicle hit the front-right side of the jeepney driven by Miguel Oliveros, where Boñales was seated.

Boñales suffered a large cut and some bruises on his right foot but Dee maintains he is not at fault.

“Unang-una naka-stop na, eh.  Merong mga taong, kahit 'yung mismong guard na on duty doon sa lugar na 'yon na nagbigay ng report, sinasabi niya na  hindi ako ‘yung may kasalanan dahil nagpa-'Go' na siya and sumingit pa ‘yong jeep. [Sinabi niya ‘yan] on record, and ‘yun din ang sinasabi sa police report.

“I was there at the right place and sumunod lang ako,” he related.

Boñales’ sustained the wounds because his right foot was outside the jeep, Dee added.

“Kaya rin sinasabi ng pulis na wala akong kasalanan dahil responsibilidad nung jeepney driver na sabihin sa mga pasahero niya na bawal ilabas ‘yung paa sa sasakyan.”

The “Magkaribal” actor said he went to the hospital were Boñales was admitted because “‘yun ang tamang gawin.”

Aware that Boñales was injured and needed medications, “ako ‘yung naglabas ng pera,” the actor said.

Dee detailed the financial assistance he extended to Boñales. He initially gave him 700 pesos, “pambili lang ng lahat ng mga kailangan niya, for that moment. “ After that, he gave him 3,000 pesos and money to buy a crutch.

On Aug. 15, the day Dee was admitted to the hospital for dengue, he said that Boñales texted his friend, asking for help yet again. Dee sent another 3,000 pesos.

“Nagtataka lang ako kasi with the first P3,000 that I gave, covered na lahat ng medical expenses niya, even the gamot,” said Dee.

The second 3,000 pesos he gave Boñales was the last financial assistance he gave, “because after that, nagpa-interview na siya [sa ‘Paparazzi’],” said the 21-year old actor.

“Right after that interview na lumabas sa ibang station, tinatanong niya kung may mga tulong pa ba raw siyang matatanggap sa’kin,” he related.

Dee said he received another text from Boñales, saying he needed money to buy milk for his child and to pay the store from which they owe payment for some food items they bought.

Dee refuted Boñales’ allegation that he wasn’t showing himself personally to him and was always sending a representative. At that time, he said he was already confined at the hospital (he was admitted from August 15 to 22). He also disproved Boñales’ claim that he sent his lawyers to him and asked him to sign a waiver.

“Unang-una po, wala pong abogadong pinapadala sa kanya. Pangalawa, may pinapapirma sa kanya na natanggap niya 'yong tulong,” he clarified.

When Dee asked Boñales about his statements on national TV, the latter told him, “Hindi raw aalis ‘yung mga taong gustong mag-interview sa bahay nila hangga't hindi siya nagsasalita.”

As previously reported, there were rumors that the interview with Boñales was orchestrated. His interviewer, Morly Alinio, however, denied the allegation.

Dee is saddened by Boñales’ accusations, because “after all the help, ganito pa ‘yung nangyari.”

“Sana naiintindihan mo lahat ng nangyayari,” he directed to Boñales.
