Who would’ve thought that drinking wash water from dried leaves could do so much for your health? For centuries, tea has been one of the most favorite beverages all over the world. Aside from its different varieties, it also has different benefits.

There are different kinds of teas, but the most popular are Green Tea and Black Tea.
Both are known to lower the risk of cancer. Tea contains potent antioxidants called polyphenols. And studies have shown that catechins, the polyphenols most prevalent in green and black tea, are great in suppressing free radicals, even better than vitamins C or E. Also, the catechins are found to prevent tooth decay. Tea also has antibacterial properties that help strengthen the immune system.
Tea is great for lowering cholesterol, and preventing stroke, heart diseases and hypertension. Antioxidants present in tea are known to stop the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, preventing clogged arteries. Some components in tea also block the effects of angiotension-converting enzyme (ACE), an enzyme secreted by the kidneys, which is a significant cause of hypertension.
