A toilet that belonged to the late, former Beatle John Lennon went for $14,740 at an auction last Aug. 28.

Organizers said the lavatory item sold for ten times its estimate worth. The item was removed from Lennon’s Tittenhurst Park home in Berkshire Southern England where he lived from 1969 to 1971.

The builders who took away the white and blue lavatory from Lennon’s home were told to “put some flowers in it or something” according to the auction catalog. The contractor who ended up with the item, builder John Hancock, stored the item in his shed for 40 years until his recent death after which the lavatory was put up for sale.

The toilet was among several other Beatles memorabilia sold at an auction as part of the Beatle week festival in Liverpool, the group’s native city in northwest England.

Anne Marie Trace, one of the organizers of the sale, said the high price the item fetched had taken the organizers by surprise. “I think it’s the most unusual (Beatle-related) item we’ve ever had in our auction,” she told reporters. The buyer of the item was not identified but Trace said it would likely be “going overseas.”

“Pirates Of The Carribean” star and actor-musician Johnny Depp were among the surprise guests that showed up at the West Memphis Three Benefit show in Little Rock, Arkansas last Saturday night.

The show, in support of overturning the murder convictions of the West Memphis locals who many feel are innocent, is originally headlined by Pearl Jam lead vocalist Eddie Vedder and Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines but other famous musicians showed up at the Robinson Hall venue for the “Voices For Justice” show to lend their support to the convicted West Memphis Three’s cause.

Along featured sets of artists such as Ben Harper, Joseph Arthur and Dhani (son of George) Harrison’s Fistful of Mercy, the trio of Eddie Vedder and Johnny Depp (who played a beat up acoustic guitar) and singer-songwriter Patti Smith took to the stage and jammed on Smith’s “Dancing Barefoot,” before finishing off with another Smith tune called “People Have The Power.”

“Bieber-fever” was put on hold for a while as teen-dream and pop singer Justin Bieber was forced to cancel an Aug. 29 New York State fair show due to illness.

Beiber himself pointed out that he was already “under the weather” early Saturday morning. Shortly after a show in Providence, Rhode Island, Bieber tweeted, “been super sick lately but u guys are carrying me, thank u for the love.”

His Saturday night show at New Jersey went on as planned, but the next day, Bieber sent a new update, via Twitter, on his condition saying, “I’m getting rest right now and trying to recover from the not so good news from the doctor,” adding that, “I’m gonna be ok just need to rest but I wanted all of u 2 know I never want to let any of u down. Ever. I really appreciate at the kind words.”

“This really sucks,” Bieber continued, before shifting focus to the anniversary of Michael Jackson’s birthday. “But today isn’t about me, it is about my hero…Happy Birthday to the best that ever did it…the greatest entertainer of all time, my hero and inspiration. Happy BDay MJ RIP.”
