Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) has advanced technical education with the introduction of the Toyota Automotive Education Program (TAEP) in the Asia Pacific region.

TAEP is a comprehensive program, organized and run by the Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation (TMPF), aimed at elevating the level of technical education in the country. Under TAEP, TMPF's partner schools at both vocational and university levels are given the necessary training equipment and automotive parts; and an in-campus service workshop called the "Toyota Technology Center" for the use of students. To date, TMPF has 18 partner schools all over the Philippines.

TAEP also provides immersion training programs to help teachers at partner schools upgrade their knowledge on the latest developments in Toyota engine technology. Toyota grants top universities professorial chairs to develop a curriculum that would lead to a Bachelor of Science in Automotive Technology.

TMPF signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) for the development of technical education in the country. CPSC is an inter-governmental international organization for human resource development in the Asia Pacific Region. TMPF and CPSC agreed to cooperate for human resource development to promote technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

TMPF president Dr. David Go said, "We are honored that Toyota is the first local automotive manufacturing company to partner with CPSC. Since its establishment in 1973 with 26 charter members (including the Philippines), CPSC has become the beacon of TVET in the Asia-Pacific region."

TAEP was presented in the International Conference on Harnessing Qualifications Framework towards Quality Assurance in TVET held in Manila. Sponsored by CPSC, in partnership with InWent of Germany and UNESCO-ENEVOC International Center for TVET, the conference was attended by 200 TVET experts and government policy expert delegates from 30 countries.
