TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" rumored to be in the works
Neil Gaiman fans have something to rejoice or cry over as rumors are ripe regarding the production of a TV adaptation of "Sandman."
"Sandman" is one of Neil Gaiman's most notable works. For those unfamiliar, Russ Fischer at SlashFilm gives us a short synopsis:
... Sandman rotated loosely around Morpheus, the Lord of Dream, who at the outset was imprisoned by humans. Gaining his freedom, Morpheus gathered back his dissipated power and rebuilt his realm, and engaged in long-con power games with two of his siblings. Morpheus and said siblings are The Endless, a group of beings that are neither god nor human, mortal nor immortal, and who represent and shape aspects of life.
It was the Hollywood Reporter who first broke the news about Sandman's rumored TV adaptation:
Warner Bros. TV is in the midst of acquiring television rights from sister company DC Entertainment and in talks with several writer-producers about adapting the 1990s comic. At the top of the list is Eric Kripke, creator of the CW’s horror-tinged “Supernatural.”
However, it is interesting to note that Neil Gaiman himself is not involved in the project, although the producers seem optimistic. From the same report:
... The author is not involved in the new developments, though since it is early in the process, that may change. In fact, securing Gaiman will prove key for the project to go forward.
