Sixteen passengers were hurt after the commuter bus they were riding rammed a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Quezon City at noon Saturday.

Traffic investigator Romero Rangas said the passengers who were injured were aboard Safeway bus (QLP-246) and were brought to the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) for treatment.

Rangas said the bus passengers sustained minor injuries such as scratches from broken glass.

He said the bus driver fled following the collision with a Mitsubishi Pajero (TXG-440) that took place at noon in front of the EAMC.

Rangas assured that the driver of the Pajero, a certain Christopher Kenya, was unhurt from the incident.

The investigator said the bus was cruising along East Avenue going towards the Quezon Memorial Circle when it hit the Pajero which was exiting the EAMC.

According to Kenya, the bus was allegedly speeding toward him and hit the front portion of his vehicle.
