Actor Joross Gamboa has succumbed to showbiz pressure by turning into a gym addict. But the sacrifice seems to manifest well for the Kapamilya-turned-Kapuso because he will be one of the centerfold actors in the coming Cosmopolitan Bachelors Bash to be launched Sept. 9.
 
Joross told Bulletin Entertainment in a recent trip to Enchanted Kingdom where he is part of a celebrity story-telling group that he had a hard time trading mouth-watering dishes for tasteless grilled white meat and sweet potato just so he could look like the muscular hunk he does now.
 
“There were times na medaling uminit ang ulo ko. Kasi lagi kang gutom. I subjected myself to almost five months straight diet lang. Manok lang, inihaw na manok or steam na manok, at saka kamote. Walang asin, walang sweets. Yun lang, araw-araw. Madali ka palang magutom kapag hindi ka nagka-kanin. Kaya kailangan daw palagi kang may baon na kamote or may baon ka na manok or kaya prutas. Ang tsitsirya ko na ngayon prutas. At least, healthy living naman,” he said to a small group of entertainment scribes at the press conference for Enchanted Kingdom’s 15th anniversary.
 
Half-meaning his joke, Joross said, “But now yung katawan ko, puwede nang pagnasaan! Kasi dati, ako lang ang nagnanasa, e. Ako naman ang pagnanasaan ngayon!”
 
Adding that he would not mind if more mature or sexy role will be offered his way because of the new image, Joross said, “Dati naman kasi, kaya hindi pa ako nagpapa-sexy, kasi hindi pa ako sexy noon! Ngayon naman, repackaging. Bad boy look, pero good boy, good habit.”
 
Joross denied he resorted to steroids to muscle-up. “Before naman, may katawan na rin naman ako. Mas may laman pa. Kaya kung may mag-iisip man na gumamit ako no'n, wala lang, hindi naman ako maaapektuhan kasi hindi naman talaga. Na-adik lang talaga ako sa gym. Minsan nga, twice a day pa. Yung steroid, alam ko, effective yun. Pero kapag gumamit ka nun, sobrang laki. E, ayoko naman ng sobrang laki. Magmumukhang pandak ka kapag sobrang laki. So, sa akin, yung may muscle, pero payat pa rin. Katulad nga ngayon, payat pa rin ako,” he explained.
 
On his Cosmo coming out, he said, “I don’t know yet what they will have me wear during the launch or kung ano ang theme but I’ll be up for it.”
