Bay Area set for return as Commissioner's Cup opens curtain to 48th Season

The import-flavored conference will be the first one to be played in the upcoming season before the ever prestigious Philippine Cup brings down the curtain to what is anticipated to be another splendid season following a banner year that saw the league rebound from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The decision, which came during the league's board planning session in Paris, France, also formally opened the door for a return for the Bay Area Dragons who took the league by storm last season. Unlike last year when Bay Area went all the way through the Finals behind imports Andrew Nicholson and Myles Powell, only the former will be suiting up for the team which will also be playing simultaneously with East Asia Super League in a home-and-away format in October. Aside from Bay Area, 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup champion TNT and runner-up Barangay Ginebra will also be seeing action in the regional tiff. Just like the previous Commissioner’s Cup though, all of the teams will be playing in a single-round robin eliminations where the top two teams will get the twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals while the No. 3 to No. 6 teams figure in a best-of-three affair. The semifinals is a best-of-five affair while the Finals will be a best-of-seven showdown.
