In the ancient times, honey was not only used for culinary purposes but also for embalming the dead and in some accounts, honey was used instead of gold to pay taxes. For Queen Cleopatra, honey was a vital supplement to preserve her beauty. She used it for facials as well as in bathing where honey acted as a very effective moisturizer.

Up to this day, the different benefits of honey – both for health and for beauty – are still very popular. This month – the national honey month (I bet you didn’t know that) – add more sweetness into your life and use honey as an ingredient in three of life’s – and home’s – most important spots.

Use honey in the kitchen
This should not sound as a surprise to anyone. Before it was discovered to be used in anything else, honey was first a kitchen staple. It can be used in different recipes and handy to have in the kitchen to add flavor to food and dishes and sweeten things.

Aside from this, honey is a source of energy and power that even athletes use to easily bring lost energy after a strenuous activity.

In your health basket
Honey can be used to treat a number of ailments like toothache, burns and skin infections. It is also an antioxidant and promotes healing. You may also take honey as a pill to cure your insomnia. Coupled with milk, honey is an effective in inducing sleep.

In your beauty kit
Being an antioxidant is only one thing. Honey can also be applied externally to act as your very own moisturizer. Applying honey to skin regularly can also lighten your complexion and cleanse the skin.

Some people also use honey for the hair where it adds shine and lessen hair fall. It also aids in weight loss as it is easily digested and will not increase body fat.
