Sports enthusiasts commonly have difficulty looking for a good pair of headset. There is no doubt that sports headphones have high portability, but most of them fall short in durability.

Now, you can have a waterproof, sweatproof and wireless bluetooth stereo headset and MP3 player all in one device.

The Mi-Sport VBT is a Bluetooth stereo headset with a built-in MP3 player that is expertly designed for almost all sports activities such as cycling, running and even swimming!

While other headsets are resistant just to rain drizzles or a few water splashes, the Mi-sport VBT is totally waterproof. It has received an Internal Protection rating of IPX7 which means that it is submersible up to 1 meter. Though headsets that can be used in diving may sound ideal, listening to music any deeper than 1 meter can be dangerous to the ears and is therefore not recommended.

Because of this, the Mi-Sport VBT guarantees only up to 1 meter depth which is more than enough to use it for training. The device’ behind-the-neck design adds safety as it prevents pressure from accumulating at the side of the head.

Designed to provide comfort while swimming, this watertight device comes with waterproof soft sponge earplugs which can be worn securely underneath the headphones to repel water and allow sound. The earplugs have been specially designed to deliver crystal-clear sounds as your head moves in and out of the water while swimming.

The headset’s nifty integrated 4GB MP3 player can store up to 1,000 music files in typical MP3, WMA or AAC (iTunes) formats. More so, it is compatible with any PC and Mac.

The player’s control buttons sit comfortably on the side of the headphones. The 2 buttons found at the lower part may be used to rewind or fast-forward audio files or podcasts. Volume keys are found at the upper part, beside the controls for changing tracks. Searching for songs is made faster and more convenient through the player’s integrated voice navigation software which supports English and all major European languages including Russian and Arabic.

Music can be streamed from any bluetooth-enabled device via its A2DP Bluetooth. Since Mi-Sport VBT is compatible with almost all mobile phones, syncing can be done easily thus enabling the user to take calls freely with the headset. Its detachable microphone is not submersible in water, but is resistant to rain and sweat. Who needs a microphone while in water, anyway?

Battery lasts up to 9 hours, and can be charged via USB.

According to Mi-Sport Global Ltd., the genius behind this impressive innovation, the Mi-Sport VBT may be launched by the end of the year. Version 1 without bluetooth will be made affordable to yuppie/sporty types while the bluetooth version will be a tad more pricey. A third new version with some exciting completely new functionality for swimming will be for the no-nonsense fashionistas. Together with that, they will introduce a range of innovative training/swimming gadgets that can be linked to the headphones as well.

With the success of Ironman 70.3 Philippines, this would certainly stir the interests of triathletes and other sports enthusiasts. It’s practical and innovative. Training with this would definitely be a treat!

Cool gadget. I've been looking for this gadget for so long. Any idea on how much is this? I am always on pool for my triathlete swimming training and I find it so bored swimming in a cold and quiet place. Thanks for sharing this.
