"Basta ang alam ko lang, I kind of don't wanna wear white sana.”

This is what Regine Velasquez declared in an interview with Ricky Lo for “Startalk” on Sept. 5, which was done in a room at the Peninsula Hotel in the U.S. “Kasi, kinasal na rin ako nang ilang beses sa movie, at saka hindi na rin naman ako 16,” she explained with a laugh.

Velasquez, who flew to the States with Vicki Belo, went there to meet with noted celebrity designer, Monique Lhuillier. Belo had been enlisted as one of the principal sponsors at the Alcasid-Velasquez wedding and had apparently asked the groom-to-be, “Is it okay if I give her the wedding gown for a wedding gift? Kasi ‘di ba every picture she’ll see, she’ll always remember, ‘Ah bigay ‘yan ni ninang Vicki….'”

Belo herself would have been able to get in touch with the L.A.-based Filipina designer—who had famously designed wedding gowns for a number of pop stars like Carrie Underwood, Pink and Britney Spears, among others. But the Lhuiller connection came from Ogie Alcasid himself, who’s an endorser of M. Lhuillier in the country. As Velasquez related, Alcasid called Lhuillier’s parents, who owns the popular money transfer services company here, saying, “Surprise niya ‘yun talaga sa akin.”

She also disclosed, "Actually, si Ogie ang namili no'n (designer) kasi alam niya talaga na gusto kong mag-wear ng Monique Lhuillier creation. But I didn't know that it’s gonna be for my wedding…”

Belo noted that it was Velasquez’ dream to wear a Lhuillier, adding, “We’re so proud. She’s a Filipina who made it, talaga, internationally.”

And Belo also gave another anecdote about the upcoming wedding, much to Velasquez’ amusement. “I have to tell everyone that, si Ogie is much more excited, I think, than Regine… I’ve never seen a groom to be so excited. Minsan nakaka-kilig,” adding that Regine would be just like the princess that would just show up at the wedding.

Regarding rumors that the Lhuiller wedding dress would have a hefty price tag of P1.4 million, Belo dismissed it with, “Hindi ko alam kung saan nila nakuha…”

“No ‘yung range kasi… may (price) range ‘yun,” Belo said, just as Lo kidded, “Ang mura ng regalo talaga ni Vicki!”

Meanwhile, some details of the wedding still haven’t been divulged. But so far, as per Valesquez, the sponsors are pretty much confirmed. “Right now we have eight pairs or nine pairs yata. So kumpleto na… Pero a lot of them are really our friends eh.”

As for the rest of the details, “Pinag-uusapan pa namin. Hindi naman talaga siya secret, we’re still deciding kung anong lugar ‘yun. Nung una kasi 200 (guests) lang, ngayon 300 na,” she laughed. “Good luck na lang ‘yun.”
