Shin Jung Hwan, the Korean singer and entertainer who is alleged to have unpaid gambling debt, is now confined in a Cebu hospital after getting afflicted with dengue.

A photo posted on his fan café shows Shin lying on a hospital bed.

In a statement posted on the fan café, Shin admitted that he gambled at a casino in Cebu but didn’t answer reports by the Korean media that he was unable to leave the casino because of gambling debt.

He said he became ill after arriving in Cebu and was hospitalized. He was unconscious for several days.

Shin, who went to Cebu last Aug. 27, failed to return to South Korea and report for the taping of his TV shows.

With the gambling debt issue, TV station KBS has decided to fire him from “Star Golden Bell.”

It was said that Shin will be returning to South Korea after being discharged from the hospital.

Shin was involved in gambling in 2005 and was fined 7 million won.
