MANILA, Philippines – RJ Chandumal, the Bombers’ rookie, fired 28 points, including 12 in a telling run that turned a nine-point deficit to an eight-point advantage as the Bombay Bombers shocked the defending champion Blue Sharks, 80-60 in the continuation of the 2010 FIBL Fil-India Cup at the Makati Coliseum.

The Sharks looked poised to seal a second victory in as many games after Kishore Mirpuri’s putback off Vladimir Singh’s missed three-point shot gave them a 55-46 lead with 10:48 left in the fourth. Instead, it was the Bombers who are up in the team standings with a clean 2-0 record, thanks to RJ’s aerial onslaught that keyed a 21-4 outburst, giving the Bombers a 67-59 lead with just 3:17 remaining.

Vladimir Singh led the Sharks with 23 points while Manoj Chandumal had 17, a far-cry from his 30-point performance from their first game. He shot a miserable 6 of 17 from the field although he registered 12 rebounds and six assists. Kishore Mirpuri had 11 points and 12 boards against his former team.

In the second game, Jasjit Dhaliwal continued to make his bid this early in the Rookie of the Year chase, scoring 22 points as the Kings barged into the winning column with a 78-68 conquest over the listless Knights.
