‘Beatlefest 2010,’ a Most Enjoyable Show

We had a most memorable and enjoyable night last Saturday (Sept. 11) at the Aliw Theater where “Beatlefest 2010,” featuring the Beatles’ original drummer Pete Best, was held.

We enjoyed watching Pete Best perform with the Glass Onion Band along with featured artists: The Bloom Brothers, McCoy Fundales, Rene Garcia, Ramon “RJ” Jacinto and Ely Buendia, whose every number was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience. These artists had their individual spots and the audience couldn’t have enough of them, asking for more, more, more.

Of course, it was likewise very interesting watching the special guests – Ms. Lenny de Jesus and Tonyboy Cojuangco – showcase with passion their guitar-playing prowess. (By the way, Lenny and Tonyboy play with the Electromaniacs every second Thursday of the month, which means tonight, at Merk’s Bar and Bistro at Greenbelt 3).

They also joined the whole cast for the finale number with a pretty, talented and very promising girl called Chim Chim (who Danee Samonte proudly said was his protégée).

It was also interesting watching the audience, especially the younger generation, relate and react to the performances. We spotted Chief Justice Renato Corona and wife among those applauding heartily every Beatles number played.

Also in the audience were BIR Comm. Kim Henares, Subic Mayor Kate Gordon, Court of Appeals Justice Reyes, Bobby and Moleen del Rosario, Fannie Aguinaldo-Jacinto, Manny Garcia of PCSO, Edgar Cruz, Justin Mata and Ms. Gretchen Barretto among others.

We commended her for a credible performance in the ABS-CBN toprating soap “Magkaribal” where she shares stellar billing with Bea Alonzo.
